Manu Carreño reveals which senior federation official advised Rubiales to resign before his controversial press conference

The controversial press conference given this afternoon by Luis Rubiales, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, continues to leave reactions of indignation and disbelief as the hours go by. The president has refused to resign, declaring the criticism he has received in recent days as a "social murder" directed by a false feminism, in addition to insisting that the kiss without consent to Jennifer Hermoso was consented.

The statements have spread like wildfire in a multitude of morning magazines that covered the assembly, including En boca de todos, the program presented by Nacho Abad on Cuatro. Given the occasion, one of the collaborators who has participated has been Manu Carreño, a member of El Desmarque and a football commentator on Telecinco on multiple occasions. The journalist has given a very relevant piece of information about Rubiales' controversial intervention.

Carreño answered if he was surprised by this act: "We are all surprised, even in the Federation some of the presidents of the territorial divisions with whom he spoke this morning, with whom he spoke yesterday afternoon and told someone 'I'm going to to March'. But this morning he asked those most trusted by him 'are you with me or are you not with me?'. And there has only been ONE, the president of the territorial federation of Navarra, who has said 'I think you should resign'”.

Said president was Rafael del Amo, who in turn held the position of president of the National Women's Soccer Committee and one of the vice-presidencies of the RFEF. The Navarrese leader, who has submitted his resignation from both positions after the assembly, has issued a statement through the FNF clarifying that he had made the decision to request the departure of Rubiales since Wednesday, and that he had then communicated it to his vice presidents.

Abad asked Carreño if the rest of those present really liked his words, to which the commentator was forceful: "In the others there have been silences and support and, in the end, he has become emboldened and has decided to die killing because with this it drags the federation and takes soccer and Spanish sport to a stage that it does not deserve ”. In addition, he has investigated the idea that Rubiales does not leave until they force him to.

“And in this country you can resign for dignity and because there is a social, political and media outcry or you can resign because a judge forces you. He has chosen the second path. As long as there is no judge who proves that there has been a crime, he is not going to resign", Carreño concluded. For now, the Government of Spain will study how to disqualify Luis Rubiales through the Higher Sports Council, which has activated all the mechanisms available to it.
