This Monday, El Hormiguero received a network colleague on its Antena 3 Television set. We are talking about sports journalist Josep Pedrerol, presenter of the famous program El Chiringuito de Jugones de Mega. However, during the talk with Pablo Motos, he did not hesitate to ask the Catalan about the political situation that our country is going through. And, specifically, due to the amnesty law agreed between PSOE and Junts.
Here, Pedrerol has been most forceful showing his rejection of this pact, as well as the future investiture of Pedro Sánchez under these terms. In fact, the journalist did not hesitate to send a strong message to the acting President of the Government with a request.
“As a Catalan, how are you experiencing the moment of the amnesty and the pact with Puigdemont?” Pablo Motos asked Josep Pedrerol at one point during the interview in El Hormiguero. “I don't want to believe that what they say is going to happen is true,” the presenter of El Chiringuito de Jugones began by saying.
“I remember the referendum of October 1, I remember having a bad time in Catalonia, arguing with the family about politics. In Catalonia that had never happened. Society was divided in two,” he continued. And he made it clear: “I don't want to go back to that and now the problem has spread to all of Spain.”
Furthermore, Pedrerol criticized Pedro Sánchez's decision to agree with Junts with: "I can't believe that someone would market for seven votes." Because for the Catalan, “politics is the art of dialogue, but here it is not so much dialogue as 'I give you in exchange for...'”. In this regard, the sports journalist pointed out that “he is not in favor of forgiving Catalonia's debt.” In a motivated speech, Pedrerol explained why:
“I am Catalan, but when are they going to fix the train in Extremadura? I think we have to think about all communities. […] I travel throughout Spain, I feel Catalan and Spanish. I don't want them to think when they see me that I'm not supportive of the rest. We Catalans are not unsupportive. There are some independentists who want to make us Catalans seem unsupportive. “What is happening hurts me and I don't know where we are going to go,” she said.
However, for Pedrerol the independence movement conflict in Catalonia “was over, the independence movement had dropped in votes. He was missing and now the topic is being talked about again. There was no longer talk of the referendum in Catalonia.” Then, he focused on the socialist politicians, to whom he asked the most forceful questions.
“Are you going to vote in favor of amnesty? Are they going to vote in favor of Puigdemont and for another 300 not to be tried? Are they going to vote against their people? His people have voted for a socialist parliamentarian from Cáceres. Is he going to pass through the streets of Cáceres calmly? "He questioned.
Before finishing, the sports journalist asked these politicians to analyze the situation we are going through, because “politics is to help people. They vote for you because they want to help your people, not to harm them.”
Finally, Pedrerol wanted to send a message directly to Pedro Sánchez. “Pedro, if you're looking at me, I'm nobody, but you have time to think about what you're going to do on Wednesday and Thursday,” he said, referring to the two days that the investiture is scheduled to take place.
