Now, Chan and Macchio have surprised everyone with a shocking video in which they open the casting call to look for the new karate kid.
Although the biggest karate fans could follow the adventures of much of the main cast in the Netflix series Cobra Kai, there is no better news than the return of the franchise to the big screen. With a blue background, Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan have announced that they will meet in this new film and that now the main objective is to find a new trainee between 15 and 17 years old.

Along with the video, Sony Pictures has linked a website on which a completely black page appears with the instructions to follow. Among other things, they ask that the young man speak fluent English and that he be a Chinese actor or with Chinese roots. In turn, if he speaks in Mandarin, he would gain positive points for the final casting. "He is intelligent, a fighter and a skilled martial artist," he added.
For them, the most important thing is the data mentioned. In turn, all those who know martial arts, gymnastics movements or have experience in dance will have a plus. Even so, it is not mandatory that you have experience in the world of interpretation.
The new Karate Kid movie, about which not much more is known yet, will begin filming between March and June 2024, so the search for the new protagonist will intensify in the coming months. Given the dates chosen, it is very likely that the premiere will not take place until 2025, or even 2026.
It is not surprising that they want to continue this franchise, created by Robert Mark Kamen. And, with all the adapted films and series, they have managed to raise around 700 million euros. A figure that, without a doubt, will increase with the new delivery.
