Isco, Ruibal... Soccer players stand next to Jenni Hermoso: "We are proud of what you are doing"

Against all odds, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, will not resign this Friday after having kissed the player Jennifer Hermoso without her consent at the women's World Cup trophy ceremony.

Rubiales assured that he will not resign from his presidential position after the enormous pressure received for that kiss, the certain obscene and problematic acts during the final and his subsequent apologies in a controversial video, assuring that it was "free, mutual and consented" and announcing that refuses to leave office. "I'm not going to resign," he declared.

A kiss that has been condemned by a large number of personalities from different sectors of society, but especially within the world of sport. Not only in women's soccer, but her teammates have also sided with Jenni Hermoso on this issue, personally speaking up and highlighting the "example" that her teammates are setting on this issue.

The last to give his opinion, which has gone viral in recent hours on social networks, has been Aitor Ruibal, Betis striker, who shared a forceful message via Twitter that caused thousands of reactions.

"Perhaps out of prudence, I have not said anything before, but I think I have the right to support Jenni in this matter," writes the player, who assures that those who know him know his opinion on the subject. “I appreciate your courage in taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and contribute to a more just society from now on,” he tells Hermoso.

Ruibal assures that he gives the player all his "support and strength", assuring that "I cannot be more proud" of what his teammates are doing for women's football and for all the successes they are achieving. "You are an example," he concludes.

His teammate, Isco Alarcón, also wanted to condemn what happened before the Telecinco cameras. “If it was not consented to, I think it is an abuse of power. I send all my support to Jenni Hermoso ”, he declared. Borja Iglesias, in this regard, also wanted to send all her "encouragement and support" to Jenni Hermoso, noting that both he and her companions "we are with her."

The president of League F, Beatriz Álvarez, was satisfied with the "forceful" response from most of the clubs that are part of the Professional Football League (LFP).

"Many have already spoken out and will continue to do so more. I think that courage must be given value because in the world of federations, in the world of football, it is not easy to speak up. We know that there may be consequences and in the end I think they are being brave and more and more are joining in," he told EFE.

The resignation will end the five-year term of Rubiales, who was elected by a large majority on May 17, 2018 and began a new stage as a manager, after years dedicated as a soccer player.

The last president of the RFEF promised to reshape Spanish football, also with a commitment to the professionalization of women's football, in order to improve the economic and sporting impact equally. However, those pillars of the legislature have ended up faltering and it seems that they have cost him his position. In addition, the legal measures filed by the RFEF against Tamara Ramos are pending, after she accused Rubiales of perpetrating "humiliation" when they both coincided working in the AFE.
