While tension continues near Ferraz Street in Madrid due to protesters against the amnesty, another alarming event has taken place in the center of Madrid. The former president of the Catalan PP and founder of Vox Alejo Vidal-Quadras was shot in the face around 1:30 p.m. on Núñez de Balboa street, near his home.

A few hours later, on the TardeAR program they showed a video that a neighbor in the area had recorded in which he can see how another neighbor helps the former politician a few seconds after being shot. The images have been recorded before Vidal-Quadras was transferred to the Gregorio Marañón hospital, where, as police sources confirm to La Vanguardia, he is no longer feared for his life, according to the emergency services.

The man who was president of the Popular Party of Catalonia between 1991 and 1996 would have left mass minutes before being attacked and, according to the same program, the shot would have gone through his mouth, entering through one cheek and exiting through the other. From the hospital, always according to the program, the victim of the shooting has pointed out that this attack could be perpetrated by the Iranian regime.

According to initial investigations, two people traveling on a large black motorcycle participated in the attack. One of them approached the politician, whom he shot at point-blank range with small caliber bullets from a couple of meters away. The other was waiting for the first one on a black motorcycle as the pilot. After the shot, the aggressor ran to the motorcycle with which they fled at high speed from the scene.

Alejo Vidal-Quadras, 78, was a key figure for the Spanish right in recent decades. Born in Barcelona into an upper-class family, Vidal-Quadras graduated in Physical Sciences and became a professor of Atomic and Nuclear Physics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, but his passion has always been and is politics. The politician has spent a good part of his professional career passing through different levels of the Administration.
