Britney Spears is making waves with her memoir The Woman in Me. For the first time, the artist, still considered by many the princess of pop, has told her life story, revealing some secrets that have shocked her millions of followers around the world.
In the book, which goes on sale today, Thursday, October 26 in Spain, the singer of …Baby one more time talks about Justin Timberlake, with whom she had a relationship between 1999 and 2002. The artists met when they worked as children in the program Mickey Mouse Club and, years later, when they were successful in the industry, they had a romance that seemed idyllic but was broken by infidelities, as well as an abortion.
Considered America's sweethearts, Britney and Justin starred in a moment that is fashion history. It was January 8, 2001 on the red carpet at the American Music Awards. The couple caught everyone's attention upon their arrival with iconic denim outfits that are part of pop culture. "When you're young and in love you do a lot of things like that," Timberlake once said a few years ago.
Now it is Spears who refers to these looks in her successful book that has broken all records. The idea of going matching came from the singer when she found out that her boyfriend was going to wear a patchwork suit made by Steven Gerstein and in collaboration with Levi's. "In the southern United States, mothers love to gather the children and say, 'Listen to me, today we are going to church and we are all going to dress together,'" she explains.
So Britney worked with her stylist to find a dress that would coordinate with her partner's outfit. "I didn't think my stylist was really going to do it, and I never thought Justin was going to do it with me," confesses the artist, who also remembers what her reaction was when she saw the result. "When he put it on, I thought, 'Wow! I guess we're really doing this!'" she says.
Some looks that generated many headlines and that still inspire many couples today when choosing a costume for Halloween. They have also been the protagonists of t-shirts such as the one launched by the Belgian brand Filles A Papa with the message 'Never forget' to reclaim this iconic moment.
