Hulu renews 'Futurama' with two new seasons full of the future

Hulu has decided to give a boost to the beloved animated series 'Futurama' by ordering two new seasons, equivalent to 20 episodes, of this creation by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. This announcement represents a continuation in the turbulent history of the series, which originally premiered on Fox in 1999 and has had several resurrections over the years.

In 2022, Hulu had already acquired the series for two 20-episode seasons, which would take the series to its fourteenth season. Season 12 is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

The series, which originally ran for five seasons on Fox before being canceled in 2003, found a second life on Adult Swim and in four direct-to-DVD films in 2007. These films were later divided into half-hour episodes, which It is considered the fifth season, on Comedy Central in 2008.

Comedy Central then commissioned 52 new episodes that aired between 2010 and 2013. The successful resurrection of 'Futurama' on Hulu began on July 24, almost 10 years after the last episode on Comedy Central. The series features an all-star cast including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche, Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr and David Herman, and is produced by 20th Television Animation, with Matt Groening and David X.
