During a fall interview with Elephant Revival's Bonnie Paine and Daniel Rodriguez at a park in Lyons, Paine was anxiously waiting for her "river-jumping buddy" to arrive. She wanted to take a dip in the St. Vrain with Enion Pelta-Tiller before embarking on a hefty tour.
Pelta-Tiller, of the Lyons indie-folk string band Taarka, has collaborated in the past with Elephant Revival when it comes to orchestrating songs and chiming in with the band, Paine said in September.
"She's a great influence on our band," Paine said. "She's awesome."
Pelta-Tiller and her husband David Tiller make up the core of Taarka, a band with noted influences of Celtic, jazz and world music, which was formed in Oregon in 2001. Now residing in Lyons, the band is comprised of David on vocals, mandolins and guitars, Enion on vocals and violin, Troy Robey on bass and "various guitar heroes," Taarka's Facebook page states. (Mike Robinson is the guitarist featured on the band's upcoming album.)
Taarka is gearing up for its new album release show 8 p.m. Saturday, March 11 at Shine in Boulder — or catch the band the night before, Friday, March 10 at the Walnut Room in Denver at 8 p.m.
Taarka's seventh album, "Fading Mystery," was recorded live near the banks of Virginia's Potomac River, according to the band's publicist, and will be released on March 10.
