He drops his phone in the middle of a live interview and is not wearing pants

No matter how prepared the live programs are, there is always the possibility that something does not go as planned. Mistakes, explosions of spotlights, mistakes, unexpected confrontations, or even escapes from the set, are some of the moments that have been experienced over the years.

If the arrival of Covid-19 and confinement meant anything, it was the establishment of video calls in these live programs. Something that has also generated a multitude of problems worth framing. And if not, tell the Belgian political scientist, and member of the IPCC, François Gemenne.

Presenter Jean-Baptiste Boursier was in charge of one of the French television programs, LCI, when he decided to connect with the specialist. The journalist was talking about climate problems around the world when the interviewee dropped his phone to the ground, exposing his underwear.

And the political scientist had decided to make the live connection with only a shirt, without wearing pants. Despite the bad moment he must have had, knowing that millions of people had seen what happened, François Gemenne did not stop being serious in front of the camera.

A few seconds later, the program changed its image to some resource shots so that the specialist could compose himself. However, that seriousness shown by the political scientist could not be evident on the set.

Presenter Jean-Baptiste Boursier had difficulty continuing with his questions, something that could be seen on his face. But worse were the reactions of the collaborators, who, astonished, could not help but laugh at what just happened.

After what happened, it didn't take long for social media to explode. "Moral: always wear pants, even for videoconference interviews," said a Twitter user (X). "Well, it shows global warming," another posted, laughing.

And these have not been the only reactions. "Remain hidden for 200 or 300 years while people forget what happened", "I would resign, send a goodbye message to my family and go live far away" or "They changed the shot anyway to allow the journalist to laugh discreetly", are some of the hundreds of comments that this embarrassing moment has received.
