From Dumbledore to Snape: all the Harry Potter actors who have died in real life

The Harry Potter saga continues to be one of the most popular worldwide. Although his last film was released almost ten years ago, the saga based on the novels of the same name by J. K. Rowling holds a special place in the hearts of his followers, known as 'Potterheads'.

After becoming a mass success, the magical world returned two years ago to HBO Max with a unique reunion, where the cast of the saga revealed secrets from filming and remembered those who died over the years.

The interpreter Richard Harris was in charge of giving life to Dumbledore, one of the most powerful wizards of all time and the director of Hogwarts. The Irishman starred as Dumbledore in the first two films of the saga, dying at the age of 72 in 2002, a couple of weeks before the premiere of The Chamber of Secrets.

This week, Potterheads have faced hard news: actor Michael Gambon, known for playing Albus Dumbledore in the rest of the saga's films, died at the age of 82, due to pneumonia.

One of the most notorious deaths was that of Alan Rickman, who played the most feared and misunderstood professor, Severus Snape. He died at the age of 69, on January 14, 2016, due to pancreatic cancer.

Richard Griffiths became one of the most hated characters after playing Vernon Dursley, Harry Potter's unjust uncle. He appeared in five films in the saga and died in 2013 at the age of 65, after a complication in a coronary operation.

A couple of years ago, the Harry Potter fandom said goodbye to Helen McCrory, the actress who gave life to Narcissa Malfoy, mother of the spoiled Draco Malfoy. The interpreter battled cancer, dying at the age of 52. In addition to appearing in the last three films of the saga, Helen stood out for her role in the successful Peaky Blinders.

One of the most beloved characters in the saga also left us in October 2022. This is Robbie Coltrane, the actor who played the great Hagrid, guardian of Hogwarts and faithful friend of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Robbie passed away at age 72 from a lower respiratory tract infection and heart block.
