Everything you didn't know about Eugenia Santana: triumph in 'Miss Spain', appearances in 'reality shows' and supposed ban on television

The name of Eugenia Santana has returned to the fore after the news of her sudden hospitalization was released. The 48-year-old model and presenter from the Canary Islands would have been transferred to a hospital on the island of Gran Canaria, her usual place of residence, after a police intervention in her own house.

Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1974, Eugenia Santana rose to fame after winning the Miss Spain 1992 pageant. She succeeded Sofía Mazagatos, winner of the contest in the previous edition. A year later, she tried her luck in Miss Universe, managing to be one of the 10 finalists of that year 1993.

Her notable success in beauty pageants such as those mentioned led her to dedicate herself professionally to television. During the 1990s, she was part of different programs on both Antena 3 (El gran juego de la oca, with Pepe Navarro and Yvonne Reyes) and Telecinco (El trampolín). In addition, she tried her luck as an actress in the series Tres hijos para mí solo, also on Antena 3, for a brief period.

During that stage of great popularity for Eugenia Santana, she was on the cover of magazines such as Interviú or MAN, which defined her as "the new sex bomb of Antena 3". After a few years without starring in any television appearance, she returned to the national scene with her participation in La selva de los famosos in 2004, as well as the sixth edition of Big Brother VIP.

On a more personal level, the model has been married to the Venezuelan José Faría for several years, with whom she had a son in 2016, Otto. The marriage was initially officiated by civil means, since Faría had previously been married by the Church to Esther Arroyo.

The actress was also Santana's partner in El trampolín and there was a great friendship between them, but everything went wrong when Arroyo denied her the annulment of her marriage so that she and Faria could get married
