Operation Luna, popularly known as Operation Deluxe, has taken a new turn after the latest request from one of the characters directly involved in it. David Valldeperas, director of Sálvame and accused in the plot, has formally requested the file of him to the Investigating Court No. 4 of Madrid, as reported by Bluper.
His letter thus adds to the one presented days ago by the heads of La fábrica de tele, Óscar Cornejo and Adrián Madrid, similarly requesting their dismissal of the case. All of them are being investigated for alleged spying on more than a hundred celebrities, and that involves Sálvame through one of his former paparazzi, Gustavo González.
Valldeperas requests, through his defense, that Operation Deluxe be completely annulled. He considers that this would have been marked by a "truly erratic and biased police criteria" that has had "an unfortunate role" during the investigation.
The reason for the letter to the courts is the alleged violation of the professional secret of Gustavo González. The director of Sálvame considers that the journalist's rights would have been compromised in the search that was carried out on him, so that the seized documents could "contain data related to his sources or his activity as a journalist," according to the report presented by Valldeperas.
"These are measures that are agreed upon, ignoring any assessment of the way in which the right to information, protected by the Spanish Constitution, could be affected, limited or restricted", insists the defense of David Valldeperas, mentioned "the protection of sources journalistic conditions" as "one of the most important conditions of freedom of the press.
The document considers that "the result obtained from a test obtained with violation of fundamental rights" is null, to finally insist that "the prosecution of a crime of disclosure of secrets does not constitute justification for measures that involve the identification of the sources of information journalistic".
