Conrad Chase, 'Big Brother 6' finalist in 2004, dies at 58

Throughout its 24-year history, more than 300 contestants have participated in the multiple editions of Big Brother on Telecinco. It was the original version, of celebrities, El Reencuentro or the recently released GH Dúo, hundreds of anonymous citizens have entered the houses of Soto del Real or Guadalix de la Sierra, trying to survive coexistence and reach the end of the multiple galas with the big prize under his arm.

Unfortunately, this Friday afternoon one of those anonymous lives has gone out unexpectedly. Conrad Chase, who was the first finalist of the sixth edition of the program, has died at the age of 58. Telegenia, the representative agency in charge of managing many of the contest participants, has communicated the loss through its social networks, issuing a statement through its X profile (Twitter).

“We mourn the passing of 'Big Brother 6' contestant Conrad Chase. We accompany his colleagues, friends and family in their feelings,” the message read. Chase, a businessman and actor originally from the United States, participated in the sixth installment of the reality show when it was still presented by Mercedes Milà. In fact, he was on the verge of taking the victory, finally finishing in second position behind Alicante taxi driver Juanjo Mateo.

Social networks reacted with sadness to the news, leaving their condolences in Telegenia's message on Elon Musk's platform. "My deepest condolences. I met him for a few days when he was a GH contestant, he was a kind and fun person. I feel his loss,” expressed one user. “2 of the 3 finalists of GH6 have died,” another follower sadly recalled, after the death of Natacha Jaitt in 2019.

It was in 2004 when the American had his moment of glory on Spanish television. After two abandonments in the Telecinco house, Chase entered as a reserve wanting to take on the world: “I'm going to bring a little peace to the house and a lot of joy.” He precisely had a deep connection with both finalists, Juanjo and Natacha, especially with the Argentine thanks to the attempts at romance that both experienced while living together.

Beyond their participation in the reality show, Chase and his partner Juanjo Mateo became inseparable during and after the Guadalix de la Sierra house. Both were part of a duo that created different songs such as La gosadera or No te Quiero más, together with Las Latinas. Later, the American was also the vocalist and choreographer of the band Baja Boys.
