Claudette Dion, the older sister of global music icon Celine Dion, recently offered an intimate look at the famed singer's battle against stiff person syndrome, a rare and incurable neurological disorder.

Speaking to Hello! Canada, Claudette candidly described her sister as an example of resilience, deeply rooted in a family passion for music that remains undiminished, even amid the disabling muscle spasms that characterize the disease.

“It is a disease about which we know very little. There are spasms that are impossible to control. You know how people often jump up at night because of a leg or calf cramp? It's a bit like that, but in all the muscles," commented the sister about this disease about which so little is known.

"She is a strong woman," Claudette stressed, emphasizing that the artist is "doing everything possible to recover", an attitude that seems to run through the entire Dion family: "In our family, singing is not just a vocation, but a passion that transcends bodily agony and mental anguish.”

Celine Dion, celebrated for her vocal prowess and a career that spans decades, remains trapped in a close relationship with music, a bond that Claudette hopes will be strengthened by medical advances: "We keep our fingers crossed that researchers find a remedy for this horrible disease. We pray for a miracle."

Claudette expressed her hope that this year - especially significant for Celine, who turned 55 - will bring positive changes. "Five has always been her lucky number, and this year she turns 55, double the number 5," she noted optimistically. "I am convinced that something miraculous is going to happen; it is her lucky year," she predicted.

According to the family spokesperson, the support of all his relatives has been unwavering in these difficult times. In this sense, her sister, Linda, has moved to Celine's house to help her with her care. "Linda informed me that Celine is working hard and is in constant contact with the leading experts specializing in this rare disease," Claudette revealed in a previous interview with Le Journal de Montreal.
