Aaron Carter "accidentally" drowned after taking sedatives

The autopsy report carried out on the mortal remains of singer and actor Aaron Carter, who died on November 5, determines that he lost his life after "accidentally" drowning in his bathtub. According to the results of the report, the artist would have accidentally fallen into the bathtub after inhaling a flammable gas present in cans of compressed air, the Los Angeles County Department of Forensic Medicine (California) revealed on Tuesday.

The autopsy of the former brother of Nick Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys, showed that, in addition to inhaling this chemical compound, called difluoroethane, he also ingested alprazolam, a sedative to treat disorders such as anxiety.

The autopsy report also revealed that the 34-year-old singer's body did not present "life-threatening" trauma when it was found in the bathroom of his home located in the Californian city of Lancaster, in Los Angeles County.

According to the TMZ portal, which has had access to the report, the artist would have drowned when he was unable to get out of the bathtub due to the effects after drug use. His death has therefore been classified as "accidental".

The news of his death left his entire family very affected, especially his mother and his former partner, Melanie Martin, with whom he shared his only son, Prince. She has been the one who has given the first statements after knowing the autopsy report, insisting that these results do not mark a definitive end for her, who continues to believe that there is something more after the death of the singer.

"He says he drowned, but he also adds that he was wearing a T-shirt and pendant in the bathtub, which doesn't make sense. Why would he get in the bathtub with his clothes on?" he wonders, adding that "She is still in shock" over the death of her son's father, and continues to not understand the chain of events that ended with his death. "This report only makes us ask more questions," she insists.

Carter started as the opening act for his brother's group when he was barely 10 years old, coming to publish a first album that was recognized as a gold record. In 2000, Carter released Come and Get It, which went triple platinum and made him an international star.

In his facet as an actor, he appeared in television formats such as Lizzie McGuire or Sabrina, things of witches. He also tried his luck in quiz and reality television formats, such as Dancing With the Stars or House of Carters, where he recounted the daily lives of his tormented family. The young man even tried to make a name for himself in the theater, lavishing himself on Broadway with Seussical the Musical.

However, his image regularly appeared on heart programs due to different personal controversies in which he was involved throughout his life, marked by substance use. Alcohol and marijuana had damaged his figure and he even lost custody of his Prince's son and he entered various rehabilitation centers to try to overcome his addiction.

This situation diminished his artistic legacy, which was reduced to such an extent that his latest album, LØVË (2018).

He also had family issues with Nick himself, who filed a restraining order against him in 2019 alleging that he had threatened to kill his pregnant wife and son.

After Aaron's death, Nick uploaded a series of photos from when they were both children to his Instagram profile accompanied by a text that read: "(...) The truth is that addiction and mental illness are the real culprits of this".

It is not the first tragedy for the Carters, as their sister Leslie died in 2012 from an overdose in New York when she was only 25 years old.
