Volvo C40 Recharge, the first car of the brand conceived from the beginning to be electric

The new Volvo C40 Recharge is another interesting novelty that can be discovered at Automobile Barcelona. We are talking about a mid-size SUV, a theoretical rival to models like the Audi Q4 e-tron or the Mercedes-Benz EQA. Therefore, a 100% electric car, 4.43 meters long and with a very fashionable coupe-style design.

This mix of styles is becoming more frequent in the market and, without going any further, we can see it in the Automobile itself by looking at the new Cupra Tavascan, Lexus UX300e or Nissan Ariya. High body, with an SUV appearance, but with a clearly descending roof line from the middle of the car.

Its proportions, seen naturally, are reminiscent of the Volvo XC40, a model with which it shares many components. As in most new generation electric cars, the front grille is closed, an element that, together with the slim front light clusters, give it away as a 0-emissions vehicle.

Volvo's new electric vehicle is now available in three versions. The first, named Single, has a 238 hp electric motor that is associated with an automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system. It is capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

The electricity to work comes from a lithium-ion battery with a useful capacity of 67 kWh. Its combined consumption, according to the WLTP cycle, is 16.3 kWh/100 km and it has a range of 481 kilometers. It admits a maximum recharging power in direct current of 200 kW and 11 kW in alternating current.

The second version, Single Extended Range, is equipped with a 252 hp electric motor, with an automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive system. With these features, it is also capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

The battery has a capacity of 78 kWh and its combined consumption, according to the WLTP cycle, is 16.8 kWh/100 km. The autonomy reaches up to 531 kilometers.

The third version, the most performance, is the Twin Motor (with two electric motors) and 408 CV of power. It carries the large 78 kWh battery and accredits up to 507 km of autonomy.

The interior of the C40 Recharge has been created without resorting to the use of leather, an expression of responsible luxury. And it is available with partially recycled upholstery and mats, a more sustainable option, as well as interior design features that visually harmonize the environment.

Inspired by the XC40 cabin, it includes a fully digital instrument cluster, center console with a large, vertically oriented touch screen, and very good-touch materials, both in the upholstery and in the dashboard and door panels. .

The standard fixed panoramic roof has laminated and tinted glass that provides effective protection against glare and UV radiation. It helps create a spacious and more natural environment in the cabin, maintaining a comfortable temperature and contributing to a quiet ride.

Up-to-date in connectivity, it incorporates multimedia technology with the Google Android operating system and OTA (Over the Air) updates, a semi-autonomous driving system or LED headlights with digital technology.
