Unemployment in the Valencian Community drops by 1,626 people in September

The Valencian Community is one of the six autonomous communities in which unemployment has decreased in this month of September. In the Valencian labor market, unemployment has decreased by 1,626 people, and it becomes the fourth autonomous region with the greatest decrease in employment. In total there are 327,765 unemployed in the Valencian Community and of them 55,824 are foreigners.

Catalonia leads this decline, with a drop of 3,440 employees; On the other hand, Andalusia (15,949 more unemployed men and women) is the first of the 11 remaining communities with Andalusia at the top followed, at a distance, by the Community of Madrid (3,358 more unemployed people) and Galicia (2,918 unemployed people).

Valencia (-1,932) is also the second province in which unemployment has decreased the most, preceded by Barcelona (-3,537). They are followed by Las Palmas (-1,636). Unemployment increases, on the other hand, in the remaining 37, among which the increases in Cádiz (5,352), Madrid (3,358) and Málaga (3,312) stand out.

In Valencia the total is 160,492 unemployed people, in Castellón there are 35,421 and in Alicante, 131,852 unemployed people registered in the SEPE. By gender, of the unemployed in the Community, 129,084 are men and 198,681 are women.

By sectors, in the Valencian Community where unemployment has decreased the most is in construction (-806) and in services (-751). By age groups, the largest is the group aged over 44 years, with 8,083 unemployed; while there are 3,603 unemployed people under 20 years of age.

Finally, of the total contracts signed this September in Spain (1,392,205), 120,649 are to work in the Valencian Community, a positive variation of 32.37% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 18.78% compared to the same month of last year.

The CEV considers that, in a context of the end of the summer campaign and the beginning of the school year, the unemployment and hiring data of the Valencian Community are more favorable than those of the country as a whole. But they warn that "not so for Social Security affiliation." They highlight that unemployment has decreased and hiring has increased, permanent employment to a greater extent than temporary employment, and the number of affiliates has decreased slightly. "The negative data is reported by the manufacturing sector of Castellón, where unemployment increases both monthly and annually, the number of affiliated people falls and the number of ERTE is rising again," highlights the Valencian employers' association.

Meanwhile, from UGT-PV, whose leaders met this Tuesday with the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, they value that the unemployment data recorded in September confirm "the good progress of employment in our autonomous community." They also highlight the reduction in unemployment by 1,626 people (0.49% less compared to August) "in a month where contrasts derived from the end of the summer campaign and the relaunch of activity in productive sectors such as construction usually converge."
