TrinamiX, an innovative technology that aims to put an end to car theft

According to the Ministry of the Interior, in our country 100 cars are stolen a day. If we do the math, we get 37,000 robberies a year, a high figure that, however, is not as large as that of other European countries such as Italy or France. The vast majority of these robberies are improvised, with a minority being those that have been planned in advance.

Vehicle anti-theft systems are becoming more and more sophisticated. The last example to be shown to the general public can make it very difficult for friends of others. It happened during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona: it is a new technology called TrinamiX that has been developed by the German company Continental for automotive components.

This technology is based on something that you probably use every day on your mobile: facial recognition. Or as it is technically known, biometric recognition. The vehicle would have a screen with different functions, among which the recognition of the owner of the vehicle stands out. When the screen warns that someone else is sitting behind the wheel, it locks the controls, making it impossible to use the car. However, if it detects the registered driver, it will be at your service to get going.

Biometrics is a technology that increases the security of some electronic devices. In addition to facial recognition, fingerprints have also been serving as a 'key' to access, for example, our smartphone. There are even cars that can be opened and started with the footprint, such as the Hyundai GV60 SUV.

This invention has already received an award: at the last CES in Las Vegas, one of the most important technology fairs in the world, it won the Innovation Award, and it is the first screen for the interior of a car that has recognition without any contact.

As we noted, the screen is multifunctional so, in addition to facial recognition, it has the possibility of making totally secure payments (when refueling at gas stations, for example) and also provides driver safety, since they can monitor their level of attention. on the road and thus avoid accidents. In this way, TrinamiX can detect symptoms of fatigue or tiredness.

In addition to all these advantages, another one is added that will undoubtedly make many drivers not worry, especially the most clueless: no key will be needed to unlock the car. Now, the expression 'for your pretty face' takes on another meaning: only with its help will you be able to open, start your car and embark on a new journey.
