Artificial intelligence can provide very useful tools for large cities and city councils, as demonstrated by the Dutch Cycling Lifestyle page, which turns the street you choose into a superbike inspired by those found in the Netherlands.
When you enter the page, you just need to add a street and check that the image corresponds to the one you are interested in converting and then ask the AI to transform it into a pedestrian area with immediate and very well achieved results.
In our case, we have used the busy Carrer d'Aragó in Barcelona, one of the busiest streets known for its constant traffic and multiple lanes in the heart of Barcelona, and the change is notable after asking the AI to renew it with a couple of clicks.
“Carrer d'Aragó, Barcelona, reinvented for a cycling lifestyle,” headlines the page, showing pacifying elements such as a paved street, pots with flowers, trees, bicycles and places with terraces to enjoy the street.
“This tool is designed to inspire people. With a playful investigation, the AI regenerates Street View and aims to show what the streets could also be like. Of course, AI and the technique, that is, the use of Google Streetview images, has its limits and is being improved,” they explain from the page.
The initiative supported by the Dutch government is part of the Netherlands' desire to demonstrate the success of its urban pacification and its commitment to bicycle transport, which is an example for many cities around the world.
