The strange micromobility novelty that folds into the shape of a suitcase

Today no one doubts that electric variants of personal mobility are in fashion and attract more and more users to solve their daily trips. Beyond the alternatives that have already become common on our streets, others are emerging that are capable of attracting attention due to characteristics such as, for example, their design.

One of these cases is the new Honda Motocompact, a curious vehicle that does not go unnoticed. And it is a kind of electric scooter with a seat and equipped with a rectangular aluminum frame. One of its great features is the fact that its folding system means that both the handlebars, the saddle and the rear wheel are completely hidden in the frame and the whole adopts a shape similar to that of a suitcase.

Among the objectives of this proposal is to become a solution for urban trips called last mile. That is, it is aimed at reaching areas where accessing by car and parking it are complicated tasks or are not even allowed. Its dimensions, as well as its flat and compact shape, allow it to be stored in the trunk of any car in a simple and practical way without taking up too much space.

Looking at its appearance, it is evident that Honda has sought to develop a vehicle with a modern, attractive and stylish aesthetic despite its small size. It moves thanks to an electric motor that offers a maximum torque of 16 Nm to the front wheel. This motor is powered by a 6.8 Ah battery that allows it to travel around 20 km with each recharge.

To complete the full recharging process it must be plugged into a conventional outlet for 3.5 hours. Although the autonomy is low when compared to other types of single-person urban vehicles, the nature of the Motocompact must be taken into account, designed to be combined with a car or for people who live a few kilometers from their work.

The Honda novelty weighs 18.7 kg and, in terms of performance, reaches a maximum speed of 25 km/h. The vehicle has retractable running boards to support your feet during trips. It also equips headlights, a digital screen, a camouflaged storage space and connectivity with a mobile application that further improves its functionality.

In fact, as stated by the Japanese firm, this application allows you to remotely control certain functions of the Motocompact, such as the lighting and the different driving modes. The rectangular and flat aluminum body is also designed to allow different forms of customization that decorate it and adapt it to the preferences of each user.

Some of these options may be provided by the same manufacturer, although each person can let their imagination fly with vinyl or other alternatives to add their own personal touch. Apart from this, Honda is also working on a line of specific accessories for this vehicle that will include backpacks, helmets and clothing.

The Motocompacto will begin to be sold next November at a price that will be around 900 euros. To see it in full action you just have to take a look at the video that accompanies this article.
