The Government anticipates an imminent agreement on the Housing law

The agreement in the government coalition on the new housing law is about to fall. This was stated this Monday in Brussels by the vice presidents Nadia Calviño and Yolanda Díaz, who traveled to the community capital to participate in separate councils of EU ministers. The agreement must be closed "as soon as possible," said Calviño, who limited the discrepancies with UP to a couple of issues that remain to be "filed out."

The law will help reinforce the public housing stock in Spain, "dismantled by the PP governments", insisted the First Vice President of the Government. Díaz, for his part, announced that he has a meeting pending with the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to discuss the reform and urged the PSOE to "take a step forward" to agree on it.

"I urge from here that we give our compatriots another piece of good news and tell them that we have reached an agreement on housing which, together with unemployment, is the main problem," said the second vice president and labor minister, who had an impact in the objective of achieving "affordable prices".

The approval of a new Housing law that reinforces social protection, among other aspects, is, together with the pension reform, one of the requirements that Spain must meet to request payment of the fourth installment of the EU recovery fund (10,000 million euros).
