Electric micromobility continues its steady evolution and is becoming the solution chosen by many users for their daily trips around the city. Among the many possibilities that exist, electric bicycles are among the most versatile alternatives, and hence their great success in recent years.
It is precisely this widespread sales growth that has led many brands from other sectors to pay attention and enter an industry that, until not too long ago, probably would not even have considered. A clear example of this is carried out by the popular electronics firm Acer, known above all for its computers.
And it is that it has just presented the Ebii, its first electric bike, a lightweight urban mobility solution that also includes innovative features that distance it from many of its competitors. Most notable are its built-in artificial intelligence functions designed to learn a rider's personal preferences, predictively control the transmission, and shift gears based on road conditions.
This electric bike features a sleek and minimalist design with a one-size-fits-all aluminum alloy frame. Its single-arm fork promotes greater lightness and offers high ride comfort. An intelligent control system and a removable 460 Wh battery designed by MPS Energy, a subsidiary of Acer, are integrated into the bike frame.
Said battery provides 110 km of autonomy with each charge and can also serve as a portable power station for mobile devices such as phones, tablets or laptops. For a full recharge, you need 2.5 hours of connection to the mains. The Ebii has a carbon belt drive that requires a very low level of maintenance.
On the other hand, it has a 250 W electric motor that is designed to be installed in the hub of either of the two wheels and that provides a maximum assistance speed of 25 km/h. As for weight, Acer's new proposal registers 16 kg, below a large part of its equivalent rivals.
A mobile application called EbiiGo allows the user to monitor the status of the battery, the automatic locking and unlocking system of the bike via Bluetooth and its GPS positioning. The built-in tracking capabilities come in handy in the event of theft, as the rider will be able to remotely lock it and track it via GPS.
This application can also be used to choose between three driving modes and display recommended routes. Other remarkable features of the bike are the Air Fom airless anti-puncture tires or the surround lighting.
And all this without forgetting the interesting collision sensors that detect approaching vehicles or other objects and alert the cyclist to reduce the chances of an accident.
