The average price of the daily menu now reaches 13.2 euros

A menu of the day in Spain costs 13.2 euros on average, a figure 3.4% higher than a year ago, when the price stood at 12.8 euros, according to data extracted from a survey carried out by Edenred and Hostelería from Spain, which also reveals that the current cost is 12.6% higher than the 11.7 euros registered in 2016.

The report highlights that these increases are "well below" the evolution of inflation and, especially, of food and beverages, which grew by 20.6% and 34% respectively, compared to 2016.

76% of the restaurants surveyed have increased the price of the daily menu in the last 9 months, taking into account that the hospitality industry faced an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 3 between January and September of this year. .1% and the price of food and beverages of 5.9%.

However, the study also reflects that 24% of restaurants have not increased the price of the daily menu and 26.5% have increased it between 0% and 5%.

By city, those with the highest priced menus are Barcelona (14.7 euros), Madrid (14.5 euros) and Bilbao (14 euros), while those with the lowest costs are Seville (12.3 euros), Valencia (12.7 euros) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (11.9 euros).

Edenred and Hostelería de España have stressed that the forecasts mark a trend in which a drop in food prices below rates of 10% is not expected until the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
