The Apis re-elect Gerard Duelo to accelerate their modernization agenda

Gerard Duelo Ferrer has been re-elected this morning as president of the General Council of the Official Colleges of Real Estate Agents (COAPI) of Spain with 140 votes, representing 63.50% of the members of the whole of Spain.

Duelo, president of the Barcelona API school, presented a candidacy with representatives of small schools, but has also obtained the support of large ones with a modernizing agenda. The Catalan manager has achieved the greatest advantage in the number of votes obtained in the last 28 years, and is the first president re-elected by the agents since 1995.

Duelo explained in a statement his confidence that "with this clear victory" the group of official property agents "will work together and calmly in the progressive and modern line that began four years ago." The council, in recent years, has led initiatives such as real estate market studies, the integration of technology, with agreements with proptechs, and has carried out intense lobbying work with political leaders to reinforce consumer guarantees before the professionals who mediate in the commercialization of real estate in the new housing law.

In Duelo's opinion, "we must continue and intensify the modernization of our entity, making it compatible with the market environments in which we live". The Apis, acknowledged Duelo, have spent years "looking for their fit" in a market in which real estate brokerage was liberalized and these professionals lost the activity reserve granted to them by law.

The General Council of API Schools represents 46 schools from all over Spain and some 10,000 official property agents.
