Normally, the Treasury takes a few days to initiate the first returns, which are simpler and do not require extensive verification of the declarations. This year, knowledgeable sources report, the income will begin this Thursday, April 13, from which time the first income will be generalized.
According to the statistics of the Tax Agency, this year some 22,899,000 declarations will be presented. It is expected that 60% will have results to return. This represents some 13.6 million statements. In total, 9,946 million euros will be returned to them, based on the forecasts made by the AEAT itself in the presentation of the campaign.
In general terms, the Tax Agency has a period of six months from the end of the campaign, on June 30 this year, to make the payment before interest begins to run, calculated from the day the payment period expired. and in which the return has been made. "The Administration has six months, from the end of the term for filing the returns, or from the date of filing if the return was filed after the deadline, to carry out the provisional settlement that confirms, or rectifies, the amount of the tax return. refund requested by the declarant", is specified in the Practical Manual of income 2022 of the Tax Agency.
There are others who will suffer a different fate. It is expected that 7,649 million taxpayers will enter, with which the Treasury will receive 16,448 million euros, 5.6% more. Like every year, these contributors will not make their first payments until the end of the campaign.
