New Volkswagen ID.7, the great electric saloon that arrives in Europe this year with a range of 700 km

Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.7 internationally, its new large electric saloon that will arrive in Europe and China later this year with a range of up to 700 kilometers. The brand is scheduled to launch in the North American market during 2024. The copies destined for both the Old Continent and the other side of the Atlantic will be manufactured in the German plant in Emden; on the contrary, the units marketed in the Asian country will be produced locally.

The ID.7 is a large saloon. It measures almost five meters long -496 centimeters to be exact- by 1.54 m high and 1.86 m wide. Its huge wheelbase, estimated at about three meters, promises a good interior habitability for the five occupants, also those in the rear row. As with other electric models, lacking the transmission tunnel, the rear center passenger has a good space to put your feet, without having to travel with your legs apart.

The panoramic roof increases the feeling of interior space and has smart glass that can be changed from transparent to opaque on demand. The driver can have an augmented reality head-up display that is projected on the windshield. The dashboard mounts a 15-inch screen for the infotainment system, while the front seats can have an air conditioning system and massage function. At the equipment level, it will be equipped with a wide range of driving aids.

The engine that drives the ID.7 develops 210 kW (286 horsepower), that is, it is the most powerful engine that Volkswagen has ever used in a 100% electric vehicle. The great aerodynamic work that designers and engineers have done on the model has made it possible to optimize its efficiency and performance.

After the new ID.3 and the compact ID. 2all, the comfortable sedan for long journeys, is the third electric vehicle presented by Volkswagen this year. All of them are part of the total of ten new ID models. that Volkswagen will launch between now and 2026, both in Europe and in other regions of the world, such as the US and China.

"In this Volkswagen we are offering 'premium' technologies that impress with their exclusivity, comfort and a high degree of usability on a day-to-day basis", said Volkswagen's Head of Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Imelda Labbé.

In 2026, the German brand plans to launch an electric car on the market for less than 25,000 euros, with the aim of popularizing electromobility. In fact, "from 2033 Volkswagen will only produce electric vehicles in Europe," said Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer.
