It can be said that 2023 is going to be the most important year in the history of Ssangyong. The recent launch of the new generation of the Musso Sports pick-up is now joined by an important milestone, such as the arrival of its first electric model, the Korando e-Motion.
Ssangyong's proposal is aimed at the most demanded SUV segment in the Spanish market, the SUV-C, but the Korando has features and virtues that also allow it to compete with the best electric models in the SUV-B and SUV- segments. d.
Regarding the thermal versions, the Korando e-Motion presents interesting aesthetic innovations that provide the vehicle with its own identity, more exclusive and technological. Specific elements are the front bumper, closed grille area that improves aerodynamics, headlights with interior trim in “electric” blue or headlights made up of three modules. 17-inch alloy wheels and rear lights with LED technology made up of three different parts are also specific.
The spacious interior also has its own identity thanks to the presence of details in blue. The infotainment system is displayed through an eight-inch screen and has specific functions for control, information, charging settings and other functions related to electric motorization. The 12.3-inch instrument panel is also customizable. Equipment includes a wireless charger for mobile phones, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as keyless access and start.
Associated with the front wheels, the electric motor develops 190 HP (140 kW) of power and 360 Nm of torque. The driver has four driving modes - comfort, sport, eco and eco - that modify and adapt the behavior and adapt to different driving styles. These modes are selected by a button located on the center console. It is also possible to control the level of retention of the engine through some cams located behind the steering wheel. By regulating the retention level, autonomy is increased.
The Korando e-Motion battery has a net capacity of 55.3 kWh and can travel up to 339 km, a distance that increases to 474 km in urban use. The direct current recharge can be carried out at a power of up to 100 kW, thus being able to recharge from 20 to 80% in 20 minutes. The approved energy consumption is 16.8 kWh. The acceleration capacity is another of its virtues, going from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds.
Ssangyong has worked to obtain a contained weight, thanks to the use of high and ultra-high-strength steel in its chassis. In this way, superior dynamic behavior is achieved, enhanced with notable possibilities when leaving the asphalt, since it has a ground clearance of 169 cm and favorable body angles to overcome obstacles.
Finally, it is worth noting the high level of safety present in this vehicle. It has cameras, sensors and radars that allow you to control everything that happens around you. In this way it can help the driver in case of need. It has level 2 autonomous driving that combines adaptive cruise control with the lane keeping system.
