Coslada will also celebrate the European Mobility Week starting this Saturday

Coslada will join the celebration of the European Mobility Week through bike riding workshops, bicycle rides, a skate contest or the exhibition of ecological vehicles.

It will take place from September 16 to 22 and the initiative will be developed under the motto "Combine and move." "This is a transversal commitment of all areas of the City Council," said Ángel Viveros, mayor of the city, during the presentation of the Cosladian Mobility Week.

This commitment, he assured, comes from afar since in the last mandate they approved an Air Quality Plan and a Bicycle Master Plan with the aim of advancing sustainability.

Coordinated by the Department of Ecological Transition, Mobility and Transport, in this edition, for the first time, a street will be closed to traffic to raise awareness about the way we move and the amount of space that cars occupy in our cities.

The Councilor for Ecological Transition, Mobility and Transport, Sonia Murillo, has assured that "European Mobility Week is an opportunity to promote sustainable modes of transport and advance the construction of a healthier and greener city."

Next Sunday, the 17th, the main event will take place with the name "Open Street" and will consist of cutting off traffic on the section of Avenida de la Constitución next to the Rose of the Winds to develop activities for all audiences.

In this way, there will be a skate contest, a road safety education circuit, a photocall and an exhibition of ecological vehicles. "Calle Abierta" will also be the place where the Biciencuentro organized by Coslada en Bici during Mobility Week ends.

The bicycle will have a leading role in this year's programming. Two free workshops have been organized to promote its use.

One is to learn to ride a bicycle and the other is to learn to navigate the city. Both require prior registration and have a capacity limit.

In addition, on Friday the 22nd, Car Free Day, the usual bicycle ride will be held at the González de Berceo, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, Menéndez Pidal and Pablo Neruda schools and the María Moliner institute, organized by Road Education of the Local Police.

Walking mobility also has its place in the programming, with a heart-healthy circuit that will be installed on September 19 at the Fairgrounds, next to the fountain.

Accessibility will be the main theme of "Deportod@s", a school event organized by the Department of Education, which will consist of the practice of sports activities adapted to people with reduced mobility.

It will be held on Wednesday on the esplanade of the Antonio López Cultural Center. Next, the reading of the manifesto for sustainable mobility will take place.

Finally, on Thursday the 21st, the talk 'A feminist view of mobility' was organized by the vice president of Women in Movement and former manager of the Municipal Transport Company of Valencia, Marta Serrano.

Next, a debate will take place in which the Councilor for Ecological Transition, Mobility and Transport of Coslada, Sonia Murillo, the president of Coslada en Bici, María Gallego, and the member of Coslada Accesible, Eva Cardador, will participate. It will be moderated by Paz Garretas, Councilor for Equality and Diversity.
