Bizaway will raise the workforce to more than 60 people in Barcelona

Bizaway, developer of software for contracting and managing business trips, consolidates its commitment to Barcelona with new offices and the expansion of the workforce. The company, born between Italy and Spain in 2015, plans to exceed 60 workers before the end of the year, a jump of more than 50% over the current 39. It will concentrate them in new 1,000 m2 offices on Passeig de Gràcia to unite the offices that it now had on the same artery and in Poblenou.

Luca Carlucci, co-founder and CEO, justifies the commitment to the city by "having a lot of talent and of international origin", which facilitates hiring "when it grows so fast". Bizaway has just closed a round of 10 million euros that will allow it to complete its growth and continue with its current plan. It will also serve to finance purchases, after one in April and finalize another in Europe.

The pandemic was logically a hard blow, "but we did not stand still, we continue to sell even if people did not travel and only in 2020 did we double the customer base," he says. "We have been recovering the volume of trips, this year it will already be above 2019," she ventures. Billing will exceed 90 million euros, tripling the figures of last year. The secret is in "having innovated in a sector that had not innovated". Although vacation trips have been digitized quickly, business trips not so much. “It is one of the biggest costs after salaries. Our tool manages the trip, the reservation, control of expenses, regulatory compliance... ”, she details. The whole cycle. The platform integrates the main global providers of transportation, accommodation and services such as rental cars.

With this proposal and promising savings, the average size of the clients is increasing, including banks, construction companies or retail chains, within a wide range. The rapid growth is still maintained without annual profits, but "with a few months in positive ebitda", explains Carlucci. The entry into benefits is expected by 2024.

Sales are mainly concentrated in Italy and Spain, each with a quarter of the pie. The idea is to keep the focus on Europe and the Middle East, where it has an office in Dubai. “We see a lot of opportunity in this market,” she explains. The other side of the pond does not attract so much attention at the moment, although it does have some American clients.

In Spain it also has headquarters in Vigo, with 25 workers. Italy and Albania complete a network with 238 people.
