Four Ukrainian policemen have died and four others have been seriously injured this Wednesday night after an explosion of Russian mines in Kherson, according to local media.

Among the dead was Mykhailo Kuratchenko, police chief of the Cherkasy region, who was helping his colleagues in the south, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky reported tonight.

The event took place in the Kherson region during the "stabilization measures" of the territory and "a cascade of enemy mines" exploded against police officers from Cherkasy.

In addition to police chief Kuratchenko, bomb disposal technician Ihor Melny, dog trainer Serhiy Nenada and assistant duty officer of the Uman district police department Vadym Perizhok were killed, according to the Ukrainian president.
