The Minister of Justice and the Interior, Elisa Núñez (Vox), has stated that the regional secretary for Emergencies, José María Ángel, and the general director of the Interior, Salvador Almenar, both appointed by the Botànic, will continue in their posts "temporarily and transitory" given the adverse circumstances of this summer.
Núñez has spoken in these terms during his visit to the Paterna forest fire station, where he has warned that a heat wave will be experienced these days "as has been unprecedented". Therefore, "the most important thing, what must be prioritized is the general interest, the protection and security of citizens above any divergence or political difference" that may exist.
The minister has indicated that she has held talks with them and "obviously" they are coordinated. Both Ángel and Almenar have sent her letters in recent days requesting her termination. Both were appointed by Núñez's predecessor in the post at the Botanical Council, Gabriela Bravo.
Despite their insistence, the new councilor refuses to remove them from their position, a circumstance that has caused discomfort in the PSPV, which regrets "the Government of Mazón, hostage to the ultra-right, is not capable of covering the senior positions in such a sensitive area such as the Emergencies in the most risky months of the year and they are keeping those from the Botànic against their will".
Precisely this Wednesday, the Generalitat has declared the Pre-emergency level 3 of the Special Plan against the Risk of Forest Fires of the Valencian Community (PEIF) throughout the territory of the Valencian Community, from Thursday, August 10, to Tuesday, August 15. August 2023, both inclusive.
This morning, the Ministers of Justice and Interior and the Environment, Water, Infrastructures and Territory, Elisa Nuñez and Salomé Pradas, respectively, held a coordination meeting to assess the measures that will be applied in response to this new episode of extreme temperatures in the Valencian Community.
Both departments have issued a joint resolution to establish a series of prohibitions and restrictions on forest land, especially in Natural Parks.
