Vilobí d'Onyar opposes the location of the future TAV station

The Vilobí d'Onyar City Council has expressed in a statement its opposition to the location chosen by the Ministry of Transport for the future High Speed Train (TAV) station. Some seventy residents of the municipalities have attended the information meeting called by the council regarding the possible construction of railway equipment.

“The City Council is working to defend the interests of the neighbourhood, which is our highest concern and priority”, commented the mayoress, Cristina Mundet, after verifying that the option chosen by the Ministry affects a dozen homes. "We understand the interests of the government, but they have to understand that ours go in another direction," added Mundet.

“It is a shame that the Ministry opts for the most traumatic option, when there are other alternatives that do not directly affect homes. It is surprising that they are already openly opting for a less environmentally friendly option based only on socio-economic criteria”, lamented the mayoress.

The Ministry of Transport made the information public on March 29 in the briefing study of the station, which includes the analysis of the location, the road scheme, the design of the travel building and the connection with the airport.

According to the City Council, of the two location options presented in the document, the second is already chosen, which is the one that would mean "a greater damage" for the population since it would affect a dozen homes.

The consistory is already working to present allegations to the project and proposes an alternative. It is located to the east of the tracks and would move 140 meters to the south. The widening of the roads and the connection with the airport would not affect any dwelling.
