Vilda, about the 15 soccer players in rebellion: "I would like to know why they self-excluded"

Jorge Vilda, women's soccer coach, said he would be "delighted to have the information" about what happened so that fifteen players "excluded themselves" from the selection, because he is not clear about what happened.

"I would like it to be explained what has happened. We are waiting to know what has happened, to have that information. We would be delighted to have that information and for people to know it. From there, do not insinuate, do not leave questions that are totally false about me. That's the worst of all this for me. I'm not sure what happened, I'd like to know," he said.

Vilda appeared before the media after announcing the list for the friendlies against Argentina and Japan, which does not include those soccer players who expressed their desire not to be called up. "There has been no communication with them at the moment. We have evidence that they have excluded themselves from the selection, if they are possibly called up. At the moment we have not received any communication," she declared.

Other players who were regulars such as Irene Paredes and Jenni Hermoso have also not entered, but who did not join that group: "We have communication with many players who come and who do not, but not with the 15 who have self-excluded" .

Alexia Putellas, two-time Ballon d'Or winner, is also not on the payroll since an injury prevents her from playing at the moment and, therefore, she has not yet been in a position to be called after learning of the discontent of much of the dressing room.

"I congratulate her again, having a Spanish woman win the Ballon d'Or twice is a success for our football and for our sport. I congratulated her, she replied. It was a congratulations, delighted to be able to speak when possible. We are looking forward to her recovery and can return to the playing fields", he explained.

Regarding the possible dialogue that the FUTPRO union could be holding as a mediator and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), he stated: "It is not within my competence. My competence is the players, the training sessions, the matches. The union is not my competition."

Vilda said that she hopes that the players of the lower teams have not been pressured to also refuse to be called up: "I hope that has not happened. I would love to believe that that has not happened, I am not going to assess what could go through the seriousness of the facts".

"As for the duration of the situation," he commented, "it's something you never expect, more coming as the team has come in the last seven years, growing, putting in good performances. It's something unpleasant, we wish it hadn't happened , of course".

"We have to accept the situation, it is what it is. There are fifteen players who are not eligible because they have excluded themselves. And we make a selection with high-level players who have shown it in the last call by beating the United States. Looking first in the present, then in the future. In eight months we have a World Cup," he added.

In this sense, he did not want to comment on whether the personal relationships between those who continue to wear the Spain shirt and those who do not have been affected: "I do not enter into the personal relationships of the players. The one now is a united team, where They go together, they want to compete. That's what I look at."

During her speech, Vilda also referred to how she is dealing with all the controversy on a personal level: "I manage to normalize it by focusing on football, on the team. Otherwise, it would be impossible to achieve what we have achieved in the previous concentration. In addition, we have entered in pot one of the World Cup, we are among the top six in the world and there has been a draw that we have never had".

Even so, he acknowledged that what is happening affects him: "It is not a pleasant situation for the family, I would like it to be otherwise, especially because it is not known what has happened and when faced with these doubts it is human to think of situations that have never been given".

"I have encouraged any player to come out and say if she has not received impeccable treatment of impeccable respect. One day everything will have to be clarified, but from my position the only thing I can say is that we are open to dialogue," he added. In that line, he pointed out: "I don't have social networks and I don't know very well what's going on. They tell me. On the street I feel affection, encouragement, at some traffic light people sticking out their arms and cheering. But I see it more as support for the national team than to me".

He also asked for time to do his job well: "We see the evolution, how we are capable of playing to win with a style recognized worldwide. We are the team that has the most possession and the second that generates the most scoring chances. We are on the way correct, the players that we are summoning are convinced that this is the way to win games. We are the first self-criticists and we are going to continue working that way".

On the other hand, he defended the work with the inferiors, which has led Spain to win the Under-20 and Under-17 World Cups: "We have the best youth academy in the world. It's been many years of work, of methodology. They are showing that they are prepared" .

"Almost all the players go through all the lower teams. There are players with extraordinary performances and who can skip steps, but thinking that it is the best for them and their development. When we have doubts, we are not going to do it," he completed.

From the list of summoned for the friendly matches against Argentina and Japan on November 11 and 15, the changes with respect to the last summons for the friendlies played against Sweden and the United States are the presence among the chosen ones of Alejandra Bernabé, Fiamma Benítez and Inma Gabarro.

Bernabé will take the place left by Nuria Rábano; Fiamma Benítez that of Irene Guerrero, who suffered some discomfort playing with Atlético de Madrid against Real Sociedad; and Inma Gabarro that of Ane Azkona.
