Víctor Terradellas leaves Junts and resigns as mayor of Reus

The businessman Víctor Terradellas has issued a statement this afternoon in which he announces that he is leaving Junts and that he is resigning from the race to be appointed candidate for the formation for mayor of Reus.

A former leader of Convergència, a party for which he was secretary of international relations, Terradellas was arrested and is being investigated by the courts as a result of the Volhov case, which investigates the alleged diversion of funds from the Barcelona Provincial Council to the CATMón foundation when he directed. In addition, he has been linked to the contacts maintained by Carles Puigdemont's entourage with Russia.

In the statement, Terradellas explains that his resignation as a member is due to the fact that in the primaries "everything was agreed" and that the management bodies have acted "without any type of neutrality." In this sense, the former member of Junts regrets that information was withheld from him, that he received pressure and that the party put "obstacles" in his way to favor Teresa Pallarés, who was the only candidate who obtained the minimum necessary guarantees.

However, announces Terradellas, this resignation is limited to Junts, but not to politics, and promises to remain "committed to Reus and Catalonia". Thus, he throws a poisoned dart at Junts on the eve of the congress that will elevate Laura Borràs to the leadership as the new president and Jordi Turull as general secretary: "A party, a leadership that does not defend the truth or the project, does not I think it is President Puigdemont's party. He set it up to act in different ways and not repeat past structures."

"The independence movement, and this was one of the issues that I was interested in knowing when I presented myself, is without the possibility of voting in Reus and in Catalonia. We have no reference and I call on the independence supporters to create a platform to finish specifying what they on October 27 we proclaim. 1-O is pride, the benchmark is 27-O", Terradellas ends his statement, referring to the day of the unilateral proclamation of independence.
