The total amount that Spaniards spent playing bingo and slot machines amounted to 2,680.8 million in 2020, with the Valencian Community spending the most for this purpose, some 650.6 million euros in the year of the pandemic.
This is reflected in a Fedea report on the updating of the homogeneous financing series of the autonomous communities, which also includes the total amount played in both bingo and slot machines, broken down by the common regime autonomies.
Thus, in terms of distribution by autonomous communities, Valencia is the region with the highest spending per inhabitant on bingo games and slot machines. Specifically, Valencians spent 47.01 euros per inhabitant on bingo in 2020, while they spent 64.29 euros per capita on slot machines.
In terms of per capita spending on bingo, after the Valencian Community is Galicia (46.9 euros per inhabitant); Canary Islands (45.5 euros per inhabitant); Aragon (33.8 euros per inhabitant); Madrid (30.9 euros per inhabitant); Andalusia (17.4 euros per inhabitant); Extremadura (16.2 euros per inhabitant); Cantabria and La Rioja (15.9 euros per inhabitant); Balearic Islands (15.69 euros per inhabitant); Catalonia (15.37 euros per inhabitant); Asturias (13.3 euros per inhabitant); Murcia (12.9 euros per inhabitant); Castilla y León (12.5 euros per inhabitant) and Castilla-La Mancha (4.6 euros per inhabitant).
For its part, in the cost of 'slot machines' per capita, Murcia follows Valencia, with a cost of 46.5 euros per inhabitant. Following these are Castilla y León (43.4 euros per inhabitant; Extremadura (41.3 euros per inhabitant); the Balearic Islands (41.3 euros per inhabitant); Aragón (39.9 euros per inhabitant); La Rioja (39 .1 euros per inhabitant); Madrid (36.7 euros per inhabitant); Catalonia (35.5 euros per inhabitant); Canary Islands (35.2 euros per inhabitant; Asturias (33.47 euros per inhabitant); Castilla-La Mancha (27.5 euros per inhabitant), Cantabria (26.4 euros per inhabitant) and Andalusia (26.2 euros per inhabitant).
In absolute terms, the Valencian Community was also the one with the highest amount played in bingo and slot machines, with 236.8 million and 323.8 million, respectively. In bingo it is followed by Madrid, with 209.1 million euros, while in slot machines it is followed by Catalonia, with 274.3 million euros.
