Unruly alliance between the wind and the sea

Rough seas and winds of 60 km/h this morning in Montgat, in the Maresme region, after the passage of the storm Ciarán, which has left us these images that we can see in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

The Ciarán storm has caused regression and erosion in points of the central Catalan coast, where yesterday waves close to 4 meters were recorded combined with wind gusts that exceeded 70 kilometers per hour. This morning the wind was still notable on the coast, as in Montgat.

The adverse effect of the storm on the coast has been noted, for example, in the city of Barcelona. The Nova Mar Bella beach, located between the Bac de Roda and Selva de Mar breakwaters, has been the most affected by the loss of sand.

The force of the waves on Barcelona's coastline has even brought down part of the Nova Mar Bella beach wall.

The wind has been the element that has caused the most damage. The storm Ciarán, of Atlantic origin, has wreaked havoc in northwest Europe and has claimed the lives of at least seven people (one of them in Spain) due to falling trees due to strong winds.
