Ukraine announces the destruction of a Russian military base in Jershon

The Ukrainian armed forces announced on Wednesday the destruction of a Russian military base in Nova Kajovka, in the occupied Kherson region, in the south of the country, an operation in which between 10 and 15 Russian soldiers would have also died.

The Strategic Communication Department of the Ukrainian Army has published a video on its Telegram account in which destroyed buildings, rubble and burned vehicles can be seen.

"According to provisional information, this video confirms a successful case of 'smoking in an unauthorized place,'" the agency said, referring to comments by Ukrainian representatives who in recent days have ironically attributed explosions in the Crimean peninsula to "burning butts".

"It has been established that between 10 and 15 occupants have left the chat forever and that many others are preparing to leave," added the Communication Department of the Ukrainian forces.

Nova Kajovka, a town of about 50,000 inhabitants before the war, is today one of the main logistics centers for the Russian forces in Kherson.

The deputy head of the pro-Russian civil and military administration of Nova Kajovka, Vitaly Gura, died on August 6 as a result of an attack perpetrated by unknown individuals.
