The investigating court number 1 of Monforte de Lemos has ordered the release, with precautionary measures, for one of the two detainees accused of the rape of two women aged 17 and 18 during the festivities of this town in Lugo.
After taking a statement from the alleged aggressor and victim, and carrying out other investigative procedures, the magistrate agreed to his release with the obligation of weekly appearances, withdrawal of the passport, prohibition to leave the national territory, restraining order of the complainant and prohibition of communication. In addition to this 18-year-old man, another 17-year-old was also arrested, who will go to the juvenile court.
According to sources of the investigation, the events occurred during the early hours of Monday to Tuesday in the surroundings of the Montfortina municipal nursery, after the victims and the alleged aggressors had coincided in a nightlife establishment in the town.
The girls denounced the events when they were treated at the Emergency Department of the Monforte Regional Hospital, and shortly after the National Police officers made the arrests.
The Monforte City Council announced that it will appear as a private prosecution in this case, since this type of action "does not fit" in the municipality, according to its mayor, José Tomé.
