Two US Navy ships at Middle East Confronting COVID-19 outbreaks

2 U.S. Navy ships deployed to the Middle East are undergoing coronavirus outbreaks and have came in Bahrain to isolate infected team members, the Navy said in an announcement Friday morning.

The cruiser USS Philippine Sea was when it was found that many sailors aboard had been exposed to this virus and so were believed to be"men under investigation"

"Sailors with favorable instances and close contacts are isolated on the boat, and the boat remains in a limited COVID bubble in the pier," said Commander Rebecca Rebarich.

"U.S. 5th Fleet took immediate action to identify, isolate, test and treat influenced Sailors and Marines aboard two boats," the Navy said in its first announcement.

"Medical caregivers are running a comprehensive contact investigation to find out the origin of COVID-19 aboard the boats and if any other employees might have been subjected," it added.

The sailors aboard the USS San Diego have been dispersed aboard the boat, and the boat itself is"at a limited COVID bubble"

A prior large-scale coronavirus outbreak aboard this boat in 2020 finally infected a quarter of those 5,000 sailors aboard. Because of this, the Navy imposed rigorous mitigation processes for boat crews at sea and two-week quarantines for people planning to deploy.
