Two sisters with Diogenes syndrome, in critical condition after a raging fire in Palma

Two sisters with Diogenes syndrome are in critical condition as a result of a raging fire that broke out in their house in Palma, an apartment in the center of the city. The two sisters have been taken to a health center but there are fears for their lives due to the damage caused by the inhalation of the intense smoke that occurred after the house caught fire. Palma City Council reports that a third person who lived in the house has been rescued without damage.

The two women, aged 55 and 66, lived in an apartment on Francesc Martí Mora Street and for now the causes of the fire are unknown, although the firefighters have indicated that the flames have spread extremely quickly due to the number of objects and various materials that were in the home as a result of the women's illness. It is suspected that the fire started in the utility room.

The fire started at 7.45am and firefighters have been working for hours to control the flames. The fire has already been put out, but for much of the morning the street has been closed so that firefighters could carry out their work. Six firefighter units have traveled to the building, in addition to agents from various police forces and health workers.

The spectacular nature of the fire and the large number of fire crews that have traveled to the scene has caused a significant traffic collapse in the area since traffic has had to be diverted, although the City Council explains that it has already been able to reopen. to traffic once the fire was extinguished.
