Two men arrested for stealing 530,000 euros from bank branches in Madrid

Two men arrested for stealing 530,000 euros from bank branches in Madrid

The National Police and the Civil Guard have arrested two individuals as alleged perpetrators of two robberies with violence in two bank branches in the towns of Torrejón de la Calzada and Leganés, from which they stole more than 530,000 euros after threatening them with a weapon and tying them up. to bank employees and customers.

A third person has also been arrested as allegedly responsible for providing the vehicles with which the robberies were committed, as reported this Tuesday by both police forces.

The detainees are between 29 and 57 years old and together they have more than 103 records and arrests for crimes related to property and road safety.

The investigation began in August 2022 after two individuals armed with guns robbed a branch in Torrejón de la Calzada, where after intimidating the employees and customers who were inside, they tied them up and immobilized their hands and feet, and They stole 183,000 euros.

The alleged perpetrators carried out another robbery with similar characteristics in November 2022 at a Leganés branch from which they managed to take 350,000 euros.

That is when the National Police and the Civil Guard began a joint investigation.

The crossing of data and information made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrators, who had changed homes on numerous occasions, had usurped the identity of other people and had even taken trips to Morocco to try to avoid being arrested.

One of the perpetrators had already been imprisoned for pending legal cases and the second had been arrested in the summer after returning from a trip to Morocco.

The agents have arrested a third person for providing the vehicles they used in the robberies and through him an illegal vehicle workshop in Parla was located and dismantled that was frequented by those investigated and where two cars have been seized.

The 'Hastelum' operation has been carried out by agents from the Violent Robbery Group of the Civil Guard, Group XIII of the Provincial Brigade of the National Police and the Local Police Station of the National Police of Parla, in addition to having the collaboration of the Service of Nature Protection of the Civil Guard of Chinchón.
