Two journalists arrested for allegedly collaborating with the activists of El Prado

Two activists from the Futuro Vegetal organization broke into the Prado Museum in Madrid this weekend to seal their hands with glue on the frames of Francisco de Goya's The Clothed Maja and The Naked Maja, in an act with the who intended to protest the breach of climate agreements.

Hours later, it was learned that two more women, El Salto journalist Joanna Giménez García and a graphic student who accompanied her, were also arrested for allegedly participating in the organization of the act of vandalism. Both are charged with crimes for property damage and public disorder.

The facts have been denounced by the newspaper El Salto itself, which explains that the reporter was in charge of writing the chronicle published by that medium about the action. Something that the journalist's lawyer has reiterated, who has declared to Europa Press that both she and the student were at the scene to report what happened.

“It is a relatively novel case, given that the right to freedom of information is not guaranteed to two journalists, who are being investigated. We are facing a case of repression to restrict the right to information”, the lawyer warned in statements collected by El Salto.
