Two hikers trapped by bad weather in the Lleida Pyrenees are rescued

The Fire Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya rescued two hikers this Sunday who were trapped by the bad weather in the Certascan lake area (Lladorre), in the Pyrenees of Lleida. The operation is still underway, since the rain is complicating the rescue of a third person who is trying to get her down from the shelter.

The rescue operation is taking place on foot due to adverse weather conditions that make it difficult to mobilize the Firefighters' helicopter. As La Vanguardia has learned, at this time, the emergency services are treating one of the hikers in the Coll area, where they found her, because she has severe symptoms of hypothermia and cannot move on her own. . The other rescued person is traveling on foot with a firefighter to the Certascan shelter. Up to this point, a doctor has traveled by helicopter to attend to the hikers.

The emergency services have been working in the area since 2:30 p.m. this Sunday, in a rescue operation that mobilizes a large device. Among these, two helicopters to transport rescue personnel in the area, while the Sistema d'Emrgències Mèdiques (SEM) has prepared another at the Tírvia heliport, a few kilometers from Certascan, in case hikers need to be transferred to a hospital.

The Fire Department of the Generalitat has received about 380 notices, basically to remove fallen trees, electrical incidents, damage to buildings and water accumulations.
