Turull will propose substitutes for the candidates who were left out of the Junts executive

The general secretary of Junts per Catalunya, Jordi Turull, will propose a candidate within a month to fill the organization's secretariat after David Torrents, the person they had chosen in the agreement with Laura Borràs sealed at the beginning of May, will not have the necessary support in the Argelers congress, 50% of the votes.

In the same way, the Member of Parliament, Ester Vallès, and the former Minister of the Interior, Miquel Sàmper, will be replaced.

Thus, the new leadership, in the next 30 days, as established by the regulations of the conclave, will make a proposal that must be endorsed by the militancy. "The proposal will remain true to the spirit of unity that forged the agreement between Borràs and Turull," said the formation's spokesman, Josep Rius, who is also one of the four vice presidents. However, he has not clarified whether Torrents can be proposed again or not. Be that as it may, the militancy will have the last word.

The new JxCat executive met this Tuesday for the first time in a hotel in Barcelona, which was approached by Torrents, also a councilor from Badalona, but according to Rius, he did not participate in the meeting. "It was part of the candidacy", Rius has justified, which has clarified that Vallès has not attended due to indisposition.

In the organizational paper that is debated from yesterday until mid-July, the date of the second phase of the congress, a mechanism has been proposed to replace the members of the executive, since that mechanism was not provided for in the congress regulations . It is up to the general secretary to appoint substitutes and to the national council to validate them.

At first there was talk of an agreement for Vallès and Torrents to join the management despite not exceeding the threshold set, but various party cadres expressed their discomfort and in the end it has been decided to comply with the provisions of the regulations of the conclave.
