Turisme estimates the impact of the "Travel Voucher" on Valencian tourism at 50 million euros

The Bono Viatgem program of the Generalitat Valenciana generates an economic impact of 50 million euros in the tourism sector of the Valencian Community, since its launch in 2020.

According to the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, only during the first three weeks of September, after the reactivation of the program, 10,000 new reservations have already been generated for this second period of 2022.

With these data generated so far, as Colomer has pointed out, "we calculate that more than 30,000 people will travel through the Valencian Community, generating around 100,000 overnight stays".

Thus, the economic impact of the reservations made in the month of September alone can be estimated at 7 million euros, five of them directly and two generated through indirect expenses, such as the consumption of meals not included in the program, shopping and transportation.

In this way, since last Monday, September 5, more than 23,000 new promotional codes have already been released, which, for the moment, have been transformed into 10,000 new reservations for tourist stays that will take place between the months of September and the end of December.

Turisme points out that the codes are sent progressively in order of the waiting list and each successful bidder has 10 days to make their reservation.

In fact, it is estimated that, since its launch in October 2020, the "Viatgem Voucher" has generated an economic impact in the tourism sector of 50 million euros (between direct and indirect impact), in addition to helping to keep open , even in the most complicated times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourist offer of the Valencian Community and the maintenance of employment linked to it.

In this sense, Colomer pointed out that "it is a pioneering program in Spain that has become a very effective instrument to encourage the tourism economy from demand, as well as to make a sector that is highly exposed to changes even more resilient. and socioeconomic crises, such as the one we are currently experiencing”.

For the regional secretary, the great reception of this program, in his opinion "correct" for the stimulation of the tourist flow in this last quarter of the year, "verifies the effort of the sector and of the Generalitat to boost the fundamental engine of the economy of the Community, as is tourism”, he added.

Since it was set up by Turisme CV, which distributes the "Bono Viatgem", 200,000 people have already benefited from it, which has also generated demand outside the usual tourist season.

Specifically, program applicants can choose between a short stay with a minimum of two consecutive nights opting for a 50% discount of up to 400 euros or a long stay with a minimum of 5 consecutive nights in which option they would opt for a 60% discount. discount of up to 600 euros.
