Transport will allocate five million to local entities to promote cycling mobility

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda published this Tuesday aid to local entities to promote cycling mobility in urban and rural areas with an initial budget of about five million euros, within the framework of the State Bicycle Strategy, charged to the General State Budget (PGE).

This was announced by the Secretary General for Infrastructures, Xavier Flores, during the presentation of the 2022 Bicycle Barometer at the National Environment Congress.

Xavier Flores highlighted the "importance" of cycling mobility also having "more prominence" in small and medium-sized towns. "The bases of the subsidies published today come to meet this need and join the investments that are already being made through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan," he said.

The Foundation is expected to launch the first call for the program "in the coming weeks" which, in principle, will be addressed to local entities with fewer than 50,000 inhabitants.
