Translink: trading on the rise

Despite the uncertainty in the markets, Translink has closed 2022 setting a historical business record. This consultancy specialized in operations of M

"Last year began with a strong dynamism that was able to offset the slowdown of recent months, marked by the increase in the cost of money due to the rise in interest rates," celebrate Òscar Llaudet and Josep Pere Gutiérrez, partners of the Barcelona firm together Tran-Minh Thai, Narciso Marfá and José María Banús.

The consulting firm – which prefers not to share its net turnover figure – highlights operations such as the sale of Clevertask to the French technological engineering Alten, the sale of Gecol to the French group Soprema, the purchase of Satucesa by Baobag, the sale of a relevant participation of Circutor, the sale of Fox Paper to the Spanish group Saica or the purchase of Bombas Saci by the Italian Pedrollo.

The partners explain that Translink advises transactions from a sale price of 8 million euros and has both selling and buying companies as clients. "In other words, we work for both family businesses and multinationals," the partners detail.

Llaudet and Gutiérrez value their more than 30 years of experience in the Spanish market (where the consultancy firm landed under the name of Windcorp) as well as the fact of being part of the multinational Translink network, a consultancy firm born in Switzerland in 1972 and 5% controlled by the Barcelona partners. “The fact of operating under your umbrella projects us towards the international market because we are in contact with 35 offices around the world. In fact, 11 of the 13 operations closed in 2022 have been in collaboration with other centers abroad," they explain.

From Barcelona, Translink controls the entire Iberian Peninsula market, concentrating its operations in Catalonia, Madrid and the Basque Country. In total, the firm employs a team of 12 people and does not rule out expanding it if they find professionals who fit the project. In addition, Translink has just moved into new 330 m2 offices in which it has invested 200,000 euros.

Looking ahead to 2023, Llaudet and Gutiérrez predict a more moderate growth. "We believe that uncertainty will last until at least the first semester, but the economy is not at a standstill and there are still good opportunities," they conclude.
