Tour de France 2022: Schedule, profile and route of today's stage between Carcassonne and Foix

After the third day of rest, this Tuesday, July 19, the runners will return to the road to compete in the sixteenth stage of the 2022 Tour de France. The cyclists will cover a total of 178.5 kilometers, in a stage considered to be medium mountain. An appetizer of the beginning of the climb to the Pyrenees, where the gala round will very possibly be decided. For now, Vingegaard is ahead and retains the yellow jersey.

The 178.5 kilometers between Carcassonne and Foix have the difficulty concentrated in the last section, when the peloton ascends Lers, 11.4 kilometers at 7% difficulty, and chains with the Peguère Wall, 9.3 kilometers at 7.9 %, both top notch.

If the start of the first climb is 60 kilometers from the finish, the top of the second is 27 from the finish, which gives the stage a favorable profile for breakaways. On paper, the descent to Foix requires a great feat for the applicants for the general classification to start looking for something, but when the differences are so short, everything is possible and there is land to seek adventures. Pogacar has already announced that he will not miss the opportunity to attack at this stage.

The sixteenth stage of the 2022 Tour de France will take place this Tuesday, July 19, starting at 12:30 p.m. The cyclists will travel a total of 178.5 kilometers between Carcassonne and Foix. The 21 stages can be seen live on Teledeporte and RTVE Play, with narration by Carlos de Andrés and comments by former cyclist Perico Delgado. The competition can also be followed by DAZN, Eurosport and La Vanguardia.
