Three new envelopes with animal eyes for the Ukrainian Embassy and consulates intercepted

Intercepted a new consignment of envelopes with animal eyes inside that were addressed to Ukrainian diplomatic offices in Spain. On this occasion —contrary to the one sent last Friday at the Embassy in Madrid— they have not reached their destination, but have been detected by the Post Office, from where they did not notice the previous letter or the envelopes with pyrotechnic material sent to politicians, institutions and companies that have shown themselves in favor of the Ukrainian people against the Russian invasion.

According to Interior sources, after the shipment was intercepted on Friday, the National Police transferred the details of the envelope to the Post Office, which has helped the interceptions on Monday. It was this morning when the Post Office noticed the three suspicious envelopes, addressed to the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid and the country's consulates in Barcelona and Malaga.

The National Police was immediately informed, which after analyzing the envelopes ruled out the presence of explosive or explosive substances, verifying that what they contained were animal eyes. The letter from last Friday contained the eye of a sheep, according to police sources.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, has confirmed the seizure of these three envelopes, quantifying 21 cases in which this type of threat has been sent to diplomatic offices in 12 countries.

In this context, Nikolenko has pointed out that Ukrainian diplomats should not be intimidated or broken by these threats. "We will continue to work effectively to protect Ukraine from the enemy and from our victory," he proclaimed.

The sending of these envelopes is being investigated in parallel to the chain of letters with explosives that were received, among others, by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Defense Minister, Margarita Robles. Although the head of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, advanced on Friday that the outcome of the case would be close, the truth is that the Police informed the National Court that the investigation "is far from being channeled" around a specific hypothesis.

There is still no person identified as the author of the letters, but the agents suspect that the letters were sent from the province of Valladolid.
