Three arrested in Catalonia for distributing more than 140,000 files of child pornography

The National Police have arrested three people in the provinces of Barcelona and Girona for allegedly having distributed more than 140,000 multimedia files of child pornography. As reported by the Police this Thursday, two home searches have been carried out and in one of them, where two of those arrested lived together, 53 electronic elements containing thousands of files of child sexual exploitation have been seized. Another of the defendants would have sent more than 55,000 pornographic files through file-sharing applications.

The investigation was initiated by specialized agents of the Central Cybercrime Unit when several users were detected in network tracking who were disseminating thousands of files of multimedia content of child sexual exploitation in P2P-type applications. The investigations made it possible to detect that one of the users, from the province of Barcelona, ​​had sent more than 55,000 multimedia files of child pornography and that the distribution of more than 85,000 files of the same type was located in the province of Gerona.

After the efforts carried out by the investigators, the alleged perpetrators were located and identified, urgently requesting entry and search of their homes.

During the search carried out in the Barcelona town of Sabadell, a man was arrested, and thousands of files of child pornography, of girls between 11 and 14 years old, located on a laptop and on an external hard drive, which was distributed massively over the network.

Once he was brought to justice, a special disqualification from exercising any profession or activity that involves regular and direct contact with minors was decreed as a precautionary measure.

During the entry and search carried out in a municipality of Gerona, the agents detained two brothers and seized, among other things, seven laptop computers, 23 memory cards and 10 USB devices. These brothers, who had in their possession magazine clippings with photos of minors, are accused of having distributed more than 85,600 files with pedophile material.
